Description

The lyre ficus impresses with its huge, leathery, violin-like leaves 20-30 cm long and 10-20 cm wide. It is a beautiful houseplant that stands out with its simplicity and in recent years it has been gaining more and more fanatical fans, making it one of the most popular plants found in homes and commercial spaces.

Care

The lyre friend needs a warm environment to thrive. If our area has relatively cold winters, it is best to place it indoors. The lyre ficus is sensitive to severe winter frost and strong north winds.

Watering:

Ficus lyra needs careful watering to keep its foliage healthy. Both overwatering and lack of water can cause significant problems with its growth and foliage. For ficus wisteria kept outdoors, water 1-2 times per week during the spring and fall season and 2-3 times per week during the hot summer season.

Transplanting:

We prefer relatively large pots with a diameter and a height of 30 cm, as it grows very quickly. The pot must have holes to remove excess water during watering, and we also place a layer of gravel at the base of the pot for better drainage. Fill the pot with enriched indoor potting soil to help the plant grow and establish a strong root system.

Tips

The ficus lyrata as well as the ficus benjamin belong to the same family as the mulberry and the fig tree. In its natural habitat, in the tropical jungles of central and western Africa, in conditions of plant competition, the lyre ficus grows its roots as an epiphyte on the trunks of other trees, absorbing nutrients and water, while its growth outgrows the foliage of other trees in order to come into better contact with the sun's rays.
