Description

Calanchoe is one of the most famous succulents and not without reason. On the one hand, it gives us great flexibility as it can be planted in the garden, in a pot on the balcony, but also inside the house as a houseplant. Moreover, it maintains its ornamental value all year round with its beautiful glossy leathery leaves and many small flowers in various colours such as white, yellow, pink, red, orange, purple. The lush prolonged flowering of calanchion can be repeated many times throughout the year without significant care requirements.

Care

The calanchion thrives in sunny and semi-shaded places. It needs to be careful of the intense summer sun, which causes burns on its leaves, reduces the duration of flowering and can destroy its flowers. Indoors, prefer bright parts of the house, away from heaters such as fireplaces and radiators.

Watering:

The calanchoe needs regular watering about once a week during the spring, winter and autumn season, while in the hot summer season we water twice a week. Before watering we check that the soil of the calanchion is dry. If we leave the calanchion unwatered, very soon the foliage will wither and the flowers will be destroyed.

Temperature:

Suitable temperatures for the growth of calanchion are between 12-28°C. To keep it outdoors, make sure to protect it from strong cold currents and from north winds by placing it in sheltered places, as kalanchoe is sensitive to very cold temperatures.

Transplanting:

For planting kalanchoe in a pot we choose special potting soil for succulents, while in the garden it needs rich fertile soil that offers good drainage.

It is worth noting that calanchoe is very often used for decoration at events, wedding and christening banquet tables.
