Description
Kendia is an exotic houseplant that we choose to give a tropical character to homes and commercial spaces. Originating from Australia, kendia stands out for its slender trunk from which palm-like leaves branch out on a long stem. It has slow growth and can be left in the same pot for a long time, reaching up to two metres in height.
Care
The centers need to be placed in a bright spot to have better growth and a compact shape. Be careful not to expose the plant directly to the sun's rays in order to avoid burning the leaves. If we choose too shady a position, the leaves of the cedar will lose their vitality and bright green colour.
Watering:
Kendia is moderately demanding in terms of watering and needs plenty of water once a week, and twice a week during the summer season.
Temperature:
The centia should be protected from draughts and frost, and should be kept away from radiators. Due to its large volume and height, it is usually placed in corner locations that we want to cover.
Transplanting:
Use soil suitable for houseplants with good drainage (enriched peat). However, it is slow growing and can be left in the same pot for a long time
Tips
The centia needs to be in a high level of atmospheric humidity because otherwise the tips of the leaves dry out. The use of a humidifier is beneficial during the hot summer period for kendia, while frequent spraying of the leaves with distilled water is essential.
