Description

The most famous flower that blooms in autumn and winter to plant in our pots or even in the garden. With the first rains, the cyclamen make their appearance and create an impressive carpet of beautiful flowers. A perennial low-growing plant, cyclamen has beautiful glossy dark green heart-shaped leaves that blend harmoniously with its unique flowers in shades of pink, purple, red and white. Depending on the species, cyclamen flowering starts from early autumn to late winter, and there are also cyclamen species that flower in the spring.

Care

Cyclamen love cool environments and grow in shady and semi-shady places. You can plant cyclamen in your garden under trees, in places protected from wind and strong sunlight. Cyclamen thrive in light soils that do not collect too much water to prevent the roots from rotting. They are relatively resistant to low temperatures, but are very sensitive to high temperatures.

Watering

Cyclamen need regular watering during the autumn period. Avoid wetting the leaves and stems, especially during the hot autumn days to avoid fungal diseases. Also, avoid excessive watering which can cause rotting of cyclamen roots. We usually water twice a week during the fall season and repeat watering when the soil dries out.

Transplanting

Choose spots with a west or east orientation for planting cyclamen on the balcony so that it can thrive better and give us its rich flowering. As cyclamen has a shallow root system, we prefer to plant it in shallow pots and planters.

Tips

If we observe cyclamen flowers blooming under the foliage of the plant and not coming up naturally, this is due to various factors such as lack of fertilization, irregular watering or the occurrence of very low temperatures during the flowering period.
